Life gets busy, you know. So we neglect internet, blogs and facebook pages in order to squeeze in more of reality's goodness. We have missed you though, wide-eyed web. Several people have asked where we've been and what we've been holed-up doing. Here's a little update and some pictures of some of our winter projects.

In February we got a little taste of spring, so I took advantage of a nice day and repainted this little cabinet that's been sitting outside this house since we moved in. It now houses the record player and some of our many notebooks. It was black and falling apart. . . should have taken a before picture.

More baking. This goes on more than I can photograph it going on. Lots of muffins and many attempts at cookies. Aj laughs because my cookies never come out like cookies. They are always cakey or crispy. I apparently can make tea cakes and crackers really well. Turns out you CANNOT mess with a baking recipe, unless you fully understand each ingredients role. Oh well. These pics are of my blueberry muffins, always good.

Come on everybody's doing it. I gave into peer pressure. I'm making kombucha. So far, one batch bottled and getting ready to bottle next round. Pretty good stuff, as nasty as it looks. Aj is currently trying to figure out how to make a sourdough starter from the nastiness off my SCOBY .

Canon and Mazie have been visiting. We hang out on the porch when it's nice. Last week they made percussion instruments out of broken jewelry and things. This was so fun. They have such great imaginations!

Saturday, March 16th was the Roller Derby! This has turned out to be a big deal for Swain County. The Smoky Mountain Roller Girls are kickin' butt. What an exciting bout! Thoughts and prayers to both injured players. Here's to a speedy recovery. Thanks for the entertainment.

So you add all this to weekly song writing, band practices, household chores and volunteering where needed and you've got one full year. And it's only March. I'm one whipped puppy. We are so thankful for friends, family and community. We've enjoyed many small dinners with friends here in our tiny dining room. We've enjoyed hanging out with the neighbors on cold nights. Looking forward to hanging out on the deck now!

Happy Spring!
