Photo Stories #2

Ahhh....music.

Music has always been a big part of my life. It has opened many doors and many friendships have been built. I have been reminiscing on past shows and jams. Life has been good to me......thanks to this muse. Enjoy this trip through my more recent pass.

Me and Uncle Pete circa 1995
Check me out in my Pumas playin' the bass guitar. My Uncle Pete and Aunt Joan were huge musical influences in my life. They both play and taught me most of what I know.

Andrews, NC 2005(?) Heritage Fest
An Evening of Singers&Songwriters
I brought so many people to this show that they made us all stand outside in the cold until they could make room!

Jammin' with Dave Smith and Chris W.
2006 Tote & Tarry
What a fun night! We rocked. I realized I needed an electric guitar player and asked Dave to start sitting in with me every Saturday night. A great move!

Mine and Dave's regular shows went so well that in Dec. 2006  Dave and his wife Cheryl came and rented a condo at Nantahala Village. We set up recording equipment and recorded an album. This is us taking a break to rock out air guitar solos. Thanks, Dave!

Not too long after recording in the gorge with Dave. I drove to Dave's home in Brentwood,TN to add vocals to some of my songs that Dave had been recording. We were quite a team!

These photos bring back so many great memories and there are still so many more to be made! To be continued..............

A Good Man, An Even Better Husband

See this sweet man? This is my husband, Aj. He is so much more than just an amazing husband. He is my best friend and, at times, my sanity. There's only one problem. There seems to be no place in our society for men like him.

Why is it, that, every time I tell someone Aj is seven years younger than me they respond with ridiculous remarks that make me glad I am not married to whoever they are married to. It's usually women. Here are some examples:
"You can raise him up right, then."
"Cougar."
"Well, at least you can train him right."

Then there are always the woman who make really sexist comments. Like the lady behind me in line at the Cork & Bean. I had ordered and asked Aj for his debit card, to which she replied, "At least he's good for something....." Listen here lady, I don't know who you're married to, but my husband is good for WAY more than just his wallet. Have we, as ladies, become so "independently feminine" that we've forgotten how to be loved and cared for? This woman probably went home and ruined her husband good day, if she's got one.

Ok ladies, I don't know who you all married but was it for the right reasons? Was it because he loved you? Was it because he cared? Or was it because you finally found a nice guy you can dominate, nag at, and use to your advantage?

So many times men take the fall as the sexist, prejudice, bad guy..............when most of the time it's us being the manipulators. Stop using the batting of lashes to get stuff done. Guilt trips are not a resource.

At our house, I am the one throwing my underwear on the floor and letting the dishes pile up in the sink. In my defense, I am good at other things. I cook well and don't leave messes in the bathroom sink. But I am only half a person without my Aj. We are an amazing team. Equally.

Snowed in Musing #4

it's been a long ride for a short stay in this place. out on the road for hours to find i'm going in a different direction. the path gets dark with no street lights to keep you in the lines. just remember the reflectors are red on the wrong way side.

too many lights through cityscapes to safely drive myself home. distracted easily and still nervous on my own, i venture out into alley ways to pass the days i don't want to remember.

you find me in the nick of time and say, "i know all about that night in november.......and i still love you."

Photo Stories #1

AAAhhhhh vinyl. Totally bad for the environment, yet nothing beats the sound of great music coming from a piece of it under a needle! During being snowed in Aj and I were glad to have gotten a turn-table for Christmas. Finally a way to hear all the albums we had been storing up.......and a couple of new ones from Aj's uncle, Eric.

So we let 'em spin, baby. CSNY, Jim Croce, 10cc, Diane Davidson, Uriah Heep....only to name a few. And oh yes, we dance too! But Aj may not have wanted me to tell you that.

Snowed in Musing #3

i've taken a step over a line the should not have been crossed and i can't go back. 'cause my mind is smarter than i want it to be and i know the consequences. i've been down all those roads and i've stopped to take the pictures. now they are just strange memories that vaguely i remember but can't seem to bring myself to throw away.

if i had time in a bottle, i'm sure that it would be corked and i'd be drunk on wasted minutes.

Dear Obama,
Way to go on the sandals. Maybe all the other presidents had ugly feet and are just jealous. When your job as president is over you should model for j. crew. You're just what they are looking for.......
